A selection of Tipi Glamping Holidays.. Tipis come in various different sizes, 16.5 feet is the most common but some can be significantly larger..
The tipi, or teepee, is today a wonderful historical alternative to a modern tent that was traditionally used by the nomadic tribes of the Great Plains in America. Wooden poles erected and lashed together at the top form a framework to cover with a durable weather resistant canvas or heavy cotton fabric (historically buffalo skins). Inside an inner lining acts as a heat insulator and draft excluder, ensuring it remains cool in the heat of summer, but provides warmth and comfort in winter.. Ti-pis! Why you should experience living in a Ti-pi? When you connect with nature you are connecting with your soul. There is nothing like grabbing your family and getting your glamping gear ready for a new adventure. Why not try it out in a ti-pi?
The Tipi was perfect for nomadic survival and easily moved from one location to another. The Plains Indians of the American South West knew that staying in one place to long breeds disease. Today however, many glamping communities offer such an experience. We enjoy nostalgia and having a new experience.
The kind of features the tipi can provide are awesome. Check it out!
A Tipi is actually designed precisely and can withstand forty below temperatures. The conical shape sheds rain and withstands gail force winds that would have a regular tent flattened. Very spacious, in it's traditional use a tipi easily will fit up to ten people as it's 16 foot diameter is very spacious. The walls of the tipi allow for the sun's warmth in, and traditionally a fire in the center provides the heat at night or during the winter months.
Glamping in a tipi is also a wonderful way to teach children about our pasts, different cultures, food, family, and fun.
There is nothing like roasting some smores and bedding down for the night in a beautiful tipi.
My Smores Recipe:
Gram cracker or plain digestives,
A Chocolate bar,
Marshmallows (big ones)
Take your Gram cracker or digestives and place some chocholate bar inside, then a marshmallow and a caramel, then roast for about 3 minutes and let cool before you eat. These are so fantastic and are great for glamping as they can be pre-made and packed.
